Thaddeus Holownia confronts past and present cultures in this rapidly changing city. The work explores themes of architecture, evolution of urban space and our impact on the environment. Reflecting on Eugène Atget's landmark photographs of Paris at the turn of the twentieth century, Holownia visited the city over several years, looking at the juxtaposition of elements within the urban environment.
The collection consists of 8 panorama photographs 3 feet long, 4 panorama photographs 2 feet long, and 6 silver prints 1 1/2 x 2 feet long, exploring ideas of the new culture in Paris. Some works include the vibrant "dancing girls” of graffiti artist MissTic. These works concern urban space and the juxtaposition of different elements within that environment.
