David Stewart is a figurative painter of interior and exterior scenes. The subjects in his scenes are from his daily life. His compositions are filled with light and offer us an invitation to daydream.
Stewart received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University, a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University, where he went to study with Leopold Plotek. He was awarded the most important painting prize in Canada, the Elizabeth Greenshield Grant, in both 2020 and 2022. He was awarded the Jackson’s Painting Prize for best landscape in 2023.
Stewart continues to push the boundaries of his artistic journey, exploring themes of identity, memory, and connection to the natural world through his light-infused compositions.
