Corkin Talks: of a feather: Thaddeus Holownia and Paul Roth in conversation at Art Toronto

Corkin Gallery at Art Toronto, booth A10 presents a new suite of photographs, of a feather  by Canadian environmental artist Thaddeus Holownia  on Saturday, October 29, at 11 am.  To mark the occasion, the artist will be in conversation with Paul Roth, photo-historian and Director of The Image Centre at Toronto Metropolitan University. The pair will discuss the genesis of the latest body of work by Holownia and his interest in capturing the diverse phases of the Canadian landscape through his long-term projects.
 
of a feather   is comprised of twenty portraits of bird study skins housed in the Gay Hansen Ornithology Lab in the Biology Department of Mount Allison University. 
  
Holownia is a Research Professor in the Fine Arts Department at Mount Allison University, where he has taught for over four decades and is the recipient of several awards and fellowships including a Fulbright Fellowship and Paul Paré Excellence Awards. He was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and holds the Order of New Brunswick.
 
Prior to joining The Image Centre in 2013, Roth served as Senior Curator of Photography and Media Arts at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and as Executive Director of The Richard Avedon Foundation in New York.
