Hana Elmasry is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto. Her work explores the notions of identity, the study of the natural world, and the relationship elements, objects, and subjects play with divinity. The artist contextualizes her Egyptian background in her immersive works by incorporating symbols and icons, including references from architecture, sacred literature, and ancient history.

Elmasry's signature series of intimate canvases, Reflections Surround Paintings, depicts a visual diary combining artistic expression and therapy. The multi-layered and collaged artworks blur the lines between figuration and abstraction. The artist explores the limits of the canvas by deconstructing the traditional frame and including materials like oils or objects like reptile skin, accomplishing a multisensory experience of reflection. Her larger pieces reflect observations and deductions of existentialism and the metaphysical world.

Elmasry is a graduate of OCAD University with a BFA in Drawing and Painting. She majors in Cognitive Science at the University of Toronto. She holds an Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate from The Geneva Centre for Autism. Elmasry has exhibited in Canada, Egypt, and England. In 2023, she was commissioned a work for the exhibition Being and Belonging: Contemporary Women Artists from the Islamic World and Beyond, curated by Dr. Fahmida Suleman, at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto.
