David Urban: Lonely Boy
David Urban continues to explore space and figuration through colour. Always present is his affinity for his Canadian mentors, the Group of Seven and Painters Eleven. In these new works, his palette embraces vibrant hues inspired by Italian design and architecture. New landscapes appear where the human body takes centre stage. As ever, Urban paints from his inner reflections, referencing his constant muses, music, and poetry.
David Urban holds a BA in English Literature and BFA in Visual Arts from York University, an MA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Windsor, and an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Guelph. Urban has had over 40 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in North America, Europe, and Asia. His work is included in private and public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, Musée des Beaux Arts, Montréal, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
