Corkin Gallery is pleased to present   Edge of Chaos, a solo exhibition by Sharon Switzer.

 

Switzer's artistic practice has long  explored  digital media. She is not invested in these technologies for their own sake, but instead finds ways to personalize commercial applications, ‘misusing’ them for her own purposes.

 

Edge of Chaos   includes semi-generative videos and still images that Switzer created "in collaboration with" her  computer. Each moment in the work is the result of a choice between many options for creating and transforming individual particles – each of which has an effect on how the algorithms function. This method is slow and painstaking, but also  surprising and often magical.
